Crewmember Recognition Program
January – March 2013: John Nemesh

John Nemesh, the owner of Western Building and Development, LLC, the Spaceport’s General Services support contractor, has been recognized this quarter as the Crewmember of the Quarter for his outstanding performance in providing general services support to the spaceport. He is responsible for ensuring the spaceport is clean, operationally functioning properly and well maintained. He is also responsible for developing the policies and procedures to keep the spaceport in tip top shape and to be able to respond to engineering related emergencies efficiently and effectively.
Nemesh, a New Mexico Vietnam Veteran, has been a reputable contractor for 35 years, founding the thriving multi-faceted construction company, Western Building and Development, LLC in 1978. Nemesh began his business shortly after graduating from NMSU with a Geology degree — starting primarily with residential construction, then quickly expanding to include innovative commercial building. Today, Nemesh and his Las Cruces, NM based company, focuses talent, energy and resources on large and small scale commercial construction projects regionally in New Mexico, Arizona and Texas; in the past, California, Texas, Oklahoma, Maryland.
October – December 2012: Brandon Torres

Brandon Torres, an employee of Fiore, the Spaceport’s Protective Service support contractor, has been recognized for showing consistent professionalism, maintaining a proactive can-do attitude that reflects positively on Spaceport America, and going beyond the call of duty to assist others.
A Truth or Consequences, NM-native, Brandon Torres graduated from Hot Springs High School and thereafter enlisted in the United States Navy as a Master at Arms (Security Forces). Upon completion of his service in the United States Navy, Torres moved back to T or C. He has worked at Spaceport America for approximately two years and is currently Acting Senior Shift Supervisor for Protective Services. His hobbies include spending quality time with family and friends, as well as hunting, fishing and camping.
July – September 2012: Cyndee Bourguet

Cyndee Bourguet has been recognized for: consistent tireless effort to advance the interests of NMSA in building Spaceport America; her professional administration of all construction contracts; her exemplary coordination of on-site construction activities, and; her stellar record of accurate and timely communication to all construction project stakeholders.
Cyndee Bourguet is a native New Mexican, born and raised in Las Cruces where she attended Las Cruces High School and NMSU. She is currently the SrPMA for Gerald Martin Ltd. at Spaceport America. In this capacity Cyndee assists in overseeing the construction of Spaceport America. Cyndee has been on the spaceport project for 3.5 years. Prior to coming to Gerald Martin, Cyndee was self employed in construction administration in Doña Ana County. Her hobbies include cooking and spending quality time with her children.
How to Nominate a Crewmember
Individuals employed by New Mexico Spaceport Authority (NMSA) support contractors (Crewmembers) who distinguish themselves in their work are eligible to receive a quarterly NMSA Crewmember Recognition Award. NMSA state employees are not eligible. Awards will be given for service of outstanding nature that distinguishes the individual in his or her particular area of responsibility. Emphasis for this recognition is placed on actions that go above and beyond the call of duty and that reflect positively on Spaceport America.

AECOM, Inc., is working with two New Mexico-based partner firms for the Spaceport America project:
Spaceport America’s construction will happen in two phases. Phase I is the programming stage including roads, utilities, etc. Phase II will involve the full-fledged design. The project will integrate building materials and methods that promote environmental quality, economic vitality, and social benefit.

Engineering System Solutions (ES2), is an engineering and design firm specializing in structural, electrical, plumbing, and mechanical systems, steel detailing, and building systems commissioning. White Sands Research and Developers, LLC (WSRDs) The White Sands of New Mexico, our namesake, are plainly visible from space. Since 1999, WSRDs has pushed the envelope in designing flight modeling, simulation and analysis software. The Anderson Abruzzo Albuquerque International Balloon Museum. The name Gerald Martin is synonymous with New Mexico landmark structures.

Zia Engineering & Environmental Consultants, LLC., a Las Cruces-based consulting firm with offices in several states was awarded a contract by the New Mexico Spaceport Authority (NMSA) to provide Cultural Resources Data Recovery and Reporting services for Spaceport America. Zia conducted archaeological data recovery investigations in conformance to state and federal guidelines at four identified sites located within the Spaceport’s boundaries.
Bateman-Hall, Inc., is building the Air Rescue Fire Fighting Facility at Spaceport America. The structure will be constructed as a thin shell concrete monolithic dome. This intriguing design should fit very well with the overall project concept.
